NEURomuscular ACtivation (NEURAC)
NEURAC is an active treatment approach that aims to restore functional and pain-free movement patterns through high levels of neuromuscular stimulation. The NEURAC treatment focuses on muscle interaction throughout the myo-facial chains and the cause of the problems, not just the symptoms.
What I really like to apply the method based on high levels of neuromuscular stimulation via closed kinetic chain movement and vibration & perturbation while providing a pain-free movement with unloading the body weight. There are growing research investigating the kinetic and kinematic properties of suspension/sling exercises, the effects of individualized NEURAC treatment on clinical symptoms in a group of patients with various orthopedic and neurological disorders.
I found the principles very helpful while managing long-term neuromuscular & skeletal problems and enhancing function & performance.
NEURAC is consisting of four main elements:
1. Suspension exercise
2. Controlled vibration/perturbation to selected body parts
3. Workload, specific and gradual exercise progression
4. A pain-free approach
